Repeater Linking

This page is very much a work in progress. I will add to it as I learn more!

The Local Linking Project

The repeating linking project is an ongoing effort. The uniquely Australian “tyranny of distance” and the remoteness (can you say lack of internet connectivity?) of some sites has led to some clever workarounds.

Currently, The “big stick” at Carwarp is the centre of our hub, with a number of transceivers and some control logic. The “live-off-air” signal from any one repeater is redistributed to the others on their regular receive frequency and thus retransmitted to the coverage area.

While somewhat less than ideal in terms of s/n ratio it nonetheless works in the absence of suitable internet based linking.
